How do you work around the delay between the TradingView and Questrade Platforms?
Asked 3 years ago
I like to chart my buyer and seller zones and watch them before I invest. I’m using TradingView to do that before I make the trade using Questrade because the online version of Questrade doesn’t allow you to save these lines, etc. However, the problem with this is that there seems to be a delay between the two. It looks like Questrade is a bit behind TradingView, so the pricing is not accurate when I go to buy stock. For those of you wanting to save lines, buyers zones, etc. How have you worked around this? Can you do it in the desktop version? What do I need to do to have access to these capabilities? Thanks for helping.

Questrade has a delay of 3 minutes between the Tradingview charts and their platform.
So if you're buying on TradingView and can't wait there for the share price to rise in order to buy, you'll have to hope it goes up before then!
There are ways around this though! You can also use stock apps, like Robinhood.com or Wealthfront.com that will let you set limit orders so that they execute as soon as it reaches your desired price target with no time wasted waiting for the markets to reach your goal- this is called "good ole fashioned stock picking".

I have been looking around and the common solution I find is to add one more source to your investment journey: A real-time price outlet.
Google Finance or MarketWatch, for example, will give you real-time data.
This can complement your trading with Questrade and research with TradingView.
One other solution is to set a limit order for your price targets.
