Why can't I connect my Wealthsimple account to my bank account?

I can't link my savings account to Wealthsimple, does it only accept Chequing accounts? It's been pending for a couple of days now and still hasn't been accepted.

First, you can connect your Wealthsimple account to either a chequing or savings account. So that should not matter.

Second, here is a step-by-step breakdown of how to connect the two accounts:

  • Visit the Wealthsimple website and sign into your "Invest & Save" profile.
  • Choose your name in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
  • Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
  • Comb through the "Banks & Apps" tab.
  • Pick the "Add a bank account" option under "Bank accounts."
  • Look for your bank and then insert the necessary information (institution number, transit number, and account number).
