What are the fees and charges for MT4 and MT5?
Asked 3 years ago
Are there commission fees attached to trades on MetaTrader? If so, how much does it cost? I'm also interested to find out if there is any sort of MetaTrader 4 community that I can join? It would really help me to learn. Thanks in advance.

The MetaTrader 4 platform is generally free to access. There are no fees or charges for using the platform. However, you are charged some commission by your broker. The amount can vary depending on your broker, you can view it on the 'charges' field. You can also be charged when withdrawing from the platform using wire transfer.

It should be first noted that there are no MetaTrader 4 commission fees and MT5 costs. You will be charged for utilizing these technologies.
However, it is also important to state that it is up to the supported trading platform (i.e. eToro) that will charge users any MT4 costs or any other MT5 prices The brokerage firm will pay an upfront fee of $100,000 for a full license and then pay approximately $15,000 per month for hosting, briding, customer support, and other services. These exorbitant costs are passed onto the consumer.
In regards to your second question, your best bet to join a MetaTrader 4 community or an MT5 environment, would be to check out the forum section of MQL4.

To start trading on the MT4 platform, your account must be funded with a minimum deposit of $/€/£10. There are no fees for opening or closing trades, or specific charges by the platform while you hold a position. Just remember that any trading taxes and costs such as commissions, overnight interest rates and margin requirements will still apply.
Moreover, there are no commissions to pay when you open a live account. However, keep in mind that each broker has different spreads so you should do your own research (the spread is the difference between the 'buy' and 'sell' price of an asset). A larger spread means there is more risk involved in trading with that broker (or asset) since you could trade for longer without profits.
So, yes, using MT4 and MT5 is free, but the broker might still charge you a fee. Regarding the MT4 community, you can join MQL4, which is probably the largest trading community on the internet. You can use the forum there or even join a social trading program.
