What are the penny stock trading rules?

I am looking to know the rules of penny stock trading before I get started and kick myself for not doing proper research. Also, what are some of the penny/OTC stocks that you recommend I start with?

The requirements for selling on a traditional exchange versus an over-the-counter market are considerably different. Penny stocks, trading on the over-the-counter market, don't require a minimum level of revenue or profit.
The stock of a firm that is underperforming or in financial difficulty might be transferred to a smaller exchange.
