What effect could a war in the world have on the stock market?

I was just wondering about the things that could crash the stock market. What would a war do?

A look at history shows stock prices going up in wartime.
Although there is no conclusive research on the reasons, there are some theories.
One argument is that the government spends more during the war. Increased spending benefits companies that have government contracts.
Also, increased government spending results in high inflation rates, hence higher interest rates.
